ABOUT MoCADA
The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) uses the visual and performing arts as a point of departure for exploring new artistic production across a variety of disciplines. Through exhibitions, community programming and educational initiatives centered in social justice, MoCADA incites dialogue on pressing social and political issues facing the African Diaspora.
WHAT I DID
During my time at MoCADA, I worked as a Marketing and Community Programming Coordinator. I managed social media content and strategy. I also planned and coordinated exhibit events and programs. This included logistics, organizing IRL and digital conversations, and marketing these programs.

In support of Black artists, I coordinated and organized our first online auction of the year in collaboration with Paddle8 and a dozen artists. I curated a list of artists using platforms like Facebook and Instagram. I coordinated contracts, collected data regarding their art work, and also led marketing efforts on Instagram and Facebook. Eight artists closed on bids, totaling over $10,000.

Coordinated the opening of our first exhibit on Governors Island "Fruits of our Labor". This included hosting our first group of artist in residence, who worked on a project at MoCADA House all Summer.
I was also responsible for marketing this exhibition on all social media platforms and our weekly newsletter using Mailchimp.

Collaborated with The Brooklyn Museum to coordinate a community talk with artists from our exhibition Give Me Body!: Femme Re-Divined to discuss how society recognizes and celebrates the femme form as a spiritual rite—mind, body, and soul. This talk included Marielys Burgos Meléndez, Genesis Tramaine, and Mónica Hernández.
